Your Funeral... My Trial is not the best album by Nick Cave but it includes two of his best songs. One is The Carny, the other this introspective Stranger Than Kindness. I've read somewhere that the song emerged while Blixa was experimenting some shadowy slide sounds on his guitar. It sounds mysterious, foggy, drugged, and somehow Cave’s lyrics fit perfectly: “You hold me so carelessy close / Tell me I'm dirty / Stranger than kindness”.
