Lou Reed - September Song (September Songs: The Music of Kurt Weill)

Most of the tracks performed on the tribute album September Songs: The Music of Kurt Weill are of top quality. My highlights: Nick Cave - Mack the Knife; PJ Harvey - Ballad of the Soldier's Wife; Elvis Costello - Lost in the Stars; Charlie Haden - Speak Low and William S. Burroughs - What Keeps Mankind Alive?. Yet, the cover of September Song by Lou Reed (he had another one on Lost in the Stars: The Music of Kurt Weill which is not as good) is just on of my favourite covers of all time. It has the perfect pace, the ideal dose of melancholy and it’s a very interesting adaptation of the original.
