'I think that he was involved in some payola scams. I think he did that thing that they used to do, with Love Makes Sweet Music, of sending people round to buy it in hundreds from the shops, to get it into the charts. At that time, the business decided to do a clean sweep of chart fixing, and he was one of the people they chose to make an example of. And the decision made by, the BBC and people like that, was that any band that had been caught in one of these things, they wouldn't play their records on Radio 1 ever again. I think we then lost the chance to do singles, and we didn't even know why.'
