Mick Turner, guitarrista dos Dirty Three, deixa-nos sempre num lugar ambíguo. Primeiro, porque não sabemos ao certo se aquela forma de tocar guitarra é de alguém que opta por ser um anti-herói e procura os sons desconstruídos porpositadamente, ou se é apenas um daqueles autodidactas que nunca se preocupou seguir um cânone instituído. Segundo, porque trabalha o som eléctrico de tal forma, seja com o arco de violino, seja com um dedilhado atabalhoado, que nos deixa a pensar mais nas cores, nas formas e nas imagens de fundo, do que propriamente nas figuras ou na geometria das músicas. Mas o que importa mesmo aqui dizer é que Mick Turner faz canções. Acordes simples, melodias, solos e estruturas típicas. A forma como o faz é que define o estilo.
